Special Olympics
Junior Bel Fakaosi shares her experiences with the event below.
Hosting the Special Olympians was a fun experience for me. I was able to teach something I love to others who also enjoy the game. I have done volleyball camps before, but I think this camp has to be one of the most fun I've ever been to. It was something different, but very enjoyable.
It was just great seeing these Special Olympians learn and have fun while doing so. They seemed to enjoy the game and seeing that was a great feeling. I really had tons of fun.
Article from Special Olympics Delaware:
Hornet players host volleyball clinic
posted Tue, Oct 4, 2011 by Jon Buzby
In what has become an annual tradition, the Delaware State University Lady Hornets hosted several Special Olympics Delaware athletes and coaches for a volleyball clinic last Monday night on the Hornets' home court inside Memorial Hall.
"We are so happy that Special Olympics has chosen DSU women's volleyball to help with a clinic," DSU head coach Renee Arnold said. "We enjoy this annual event and it gives the players an opportunity to coach and enjoy a pressure-free night of volleyball."
The SODE teams are preparing for the annual Fall Festival volleyball tournament, which will be held October 21-22 at the University of Delaware Field House.
"The experience for our athletes and coaches as the get ready for their tournament is invaluable," said Mark Wise, SODE director of training. "And from what we hear from the DSU players and coaches, the experience for them is very rewarding."
GAME DAY! @ UMES
We hope to see you travel down Route 13 as we visit Delmarva rivals UMES. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
If for some silly reason you cannot make it to Princess Anne --- the only excuses I'm accepting are for those that live more than 500 miles from Delaware ;-) here are links to live stats, radio/video:
